Our instructors are media professionals who teach a wide range of classes and workshops, from media arts and journalism to communication design. Our Adult Classes are designed for beginners as well as for professionals looking to improve skills in the media arts and marketing.

Our educational youth program Whaler Media is designed to prepare students for the Nantucket Film Festival’s Teen View Lab that provides practical media experiences for local students ranging from 11-18 years of age.

Nantucket Community Television is the education partner with the Nantucket Film Festival’s Teen View Lab that helps cultivate young filmmakers by providing the opportunity to produce and exhibit work that they write, direct, and edit in the festival’s annual Teen View Shorts Showcase.

Whaler Media Program

Whaler Media

We are excited to introduce our new media arts educational program, Whaler Media.

Whaler Media is designed to prepare students for post-secondary education in media arts. The capacity for this program is 10 per class, with meetings once a week, starting in December ending in March.

Learn how to use our professional-grade equipment and how to organize the production of a short video. Each skill will be introduced by demonstration and then repeatedly practiced by the students, in pairs, on their assigned piece of equipment. This arrangement ensures that everyone receives ample time to practice filming and editing

Students who would like to join our Whaler Media Program should sign up in advance. This program starts annually in November, meets once a week, and ends in February. Whaler Media is free to students, thanks to partial funding by two of our sponsors, Nantucket Golf Club and Cape Cod Five Bank.

Teen View Labs

Teen View Labs is free to Nantucket High School students thanks to our partnership with the Nantucket Film Festival. Any student can participate in the program, which meets once a week from early March to the end of June. Students’ work is presented during the annual Nantucket Film Festival.
