Nantucket Community Television (NCTV18) is excited to announce it is the recipient of the “Best Culinary Show” accolade at the 2018 Massachusetts Creator Awards.  Held on January 23, this annual ceremony took place at Venu Nightclub in Boston, MA. The Massachusetts Creator Awards recognizes outstanding work in television and media within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Awards are judged by third party evaluators who are top media professionals in the field. All entries are judged based on strict criteria in order to ensure the most outstanding productions are recognized and honored.

Executive Director Lisa Getter, and Mark Pommett, NCTV18’s producer and editor were recognized for the production of a program, called SharkBites that premiered in 2017. Creator and host of SharkBites is islander and NCTV18 member, Peter Nevers, who developed the concept of the show spotlighting Nantucket’s sophisticated chefs and their skills in creating remarkable meals.

The first in the series, this award-winning episode focused on Chef Michael Getter and Dune Restaurant. Directed and hosted by Peter Nevers. The production crew was comprised of NCTV18 staff Lisa Getter, Mark Pommett, Andrew Cromartie, Taylor Haag and, production interns, William and Carsten Higbie.  Animations and graphics were produced by Arlene O’Reilly of Mind’s Eye Productions.

“We are very grateful to The Massachusetts Creator Awards for this honor and award, and I’m very proud of the leaps and bounds our station has taken over the last couple of years—expanding and growing,” said Executive Director, Lisa Getter. Adding, “This is a great kick-off for us in 2018, and indicates an exciting future for NCTV18, and the degree of high quality programming and production we strive for.”
