Hello Nantucket, I’m Natalie Ciminero, your host for the Wellness portion of Nantucket Pulse programming, made possible by Nantucket Cottage Hospital Community Health Initiative.
Nantucket Pulse Wellness program will highlight essential resources to help us balance our new way of living… taking care of ourselves, each other, AND connecting to those who can help us during this pandemic.
This week, we have Kathleen Minihan — a Registered Dietician and Licensed Nutritionist here on Nantucket Island. She received her Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion from Simmons College in Boston in 2007 and was licensed in 2008. As founder of MiniNutrition, Kathleen encourages small sustainable change while also considering the larger impact these changes will have on overall wellness – including physical, emotional, and social health. Kathleen is also a dietician at Nantucket Cottage Hospital working in both inpatient & outpatient settings.
In this episode, Kathleen will address the three main dietary questions at the forefront of everyone’s mind during this pandemic:
1. The impact of stress and anxiety on our eating patterns,
and what to do about it.
2. Access to food …
2. Grocery shopping – Safety around grocery shopping and what to buy.
Take a look –
Thank you, Kathleen, for your willingness to share this knowledge with our viewers! We can all use a little help these days – including getting a grip on stress eating for sure! To watch this episode anytime, look for it in the NantucketPulse Wellness series Playlist on nctv18.org.
You will notice at the end of this episode local island groups giving rounds of applause to health care workers on Nantucket and around the world! If your team is meeting on zoom or google hangouts, please record yourselves saying who you are and give a shout out and round of applause to our frontline heroes, and send them to firstname.lastname@example.org
We will continue with our series aimed at keeping everyone connected and maintaining a healthy balance under the guidance of our local health professionals. That’s all for now, I’m Natalie Ciminero, your host of the Wellness portion of Nantucket Pulse —I’ll be back next week. Take good care of yourselves and remember—we are what we eat! So keeping that in mind, I’m off to make a spinach, apple and carrot smoothie (ignoring the frozen donuts in my freezer!) My friends, we’re all going to get through this together!
