Rita Higgins was elected to Nantucket’s Board of Selectmen in April 2017. It was the first time she had run for political office. Ms. Higgins is also a landscape designer, and a co-founder of 100Mile Makers, which promotes food grown within one hundred miles of Nantucket. She received a B.A. in Environmental Studies and International Development from McGill University.
