Island Cup Original Programming Overview
The Island Cup Original Programming tells the story of a very special, and somewhat unknown, aspect defining generations of people who are the backbone of two island communities—Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. We begin by telling this story of 2018’s annual Island Cup rival game, followed by a deep exploration of an inter-island rivalry, changing island demographics, and how the state of the sport nationwide impacts community football.
Why is this important?
We’re excited to share this “Coke and Pepsi” story, which has surprisingly impacted our lives through the research and filming, introducing us to new alliances in exploring and capturing the stories about the tradition of the rival games with our neighboring island of Martha’s Vineyard.
To be clear, this is not the booster club, this is original programming to showcase the tribal influence of the football players, cheerleaders, fans and the rivalry that binds generations of islanders going back fifty years.
We are currently in production and aim to premier the lead documentary at the Dreamland Theater on Nantucket and a theater on Martha’s Vineyard in 2020. We need help to meet this goal.

If our goal amount of $60,000 for the documentary film + mini-series, is not achieved, we will continue to work on this project regardless, a great deal of sweat equity is already invested in the documentary portion. It may take many years, but we will finish this film and have it available to watch our Comcast channel and on-demand online.
